Protesting Cigarette Corporations With eCigarettes

2011-12-21 - 07:00 | Corporate Protest | No comments

In today’s modern world the cigarette corporations are just as guilty as the Federal Government for the increase in cancer rates, health problems and deaths related to smoking cigarettes.

The only reason why cigarettes are allowed to continue to exist in this day and age is because, of one reason: money. Cigarettes make billions of dollars for the corporations every year and they make billions more in taxes for states.

eCigarettes – The Modern Way to Protest Cigarette Corporations

When a smoker chooses an eCig over a real cigarette they will be sending a message to the manufacturers of cigarettes that they are no longer going to be the servants of the corporations.
An electronic cigarette contains a small battery, atomizer and cartridge of liquid nicotine called smoke juice. When the average smoker inhales from an eCig they will be breathing in a mist of liquid nicotine that will go directly into their body. It’s a green smoke.

An ecig looks and feels just like a real cigarette, the only difference is that they don’t contain tobacco or other harmful chemicals that cause cancer.

The Best Reason to Use eCigs

If a smoker chooses an electronic cigarette for one reason it should be money or safety. One eCig will last as long as 15 or more cigarettes and this will save the average smoker at least $100 per month. This savings will ultimately end up costing the corporations as more people become less dependent on their products. As for safety, check out smokelesscigarettes.net for more information.

Broadcasting Your Message With Broadband

2011-12-09 - 07:00 | Protest | No comments

Just like Virginia Slims a couple of decades ago, broadband has come a long way Baby; to get where it’s gotten to today.

Since the Days of the Cold War

Back in the days of the Cold War, Russia was kicking our United States butts when it came to satellites in space. The United States first introduced the Internet as a type of retaliation against the Russians for that very achievement. Now of course, people of all households and cultures utilize broadband Internet. Creations and ideas are shared every day through computers that link up worldwide via forums, videos and home pages. Back in the day when people were not as focused on the Internet as they are today, 133 MHz was sufficient for dialup connections and people participating in forums. Today, forums are still a convenient tool of communication for people wishing to convey a message.

Though Computer Technology Advances, Some Prefer To Remain Simplistic

Not everyone is on board with the latest technological advancements when it comes to computer usage. It takes dedication and time to keep up with everything that is going on in the world of computers and social networking. Not everyone has that kind of time.

Video and audio are and shall remain the most popular way for people to communicate.

The Personal and the Political: Make Even Your Clothing Choices a Protest

2011-09-14 - 17:59 | Protest | No comments

Fashion is a global concept, and it is adopted as differently from country to country as it is from person to person. But in some parts of the world, fashion is not left to the individual to dictate, but rather to the state. In the Middle east, where Western influences are generally unwelcome by the government, women use fashion to make a political statement.

Welcoming Western Fashion

In the Islamic country of Iran, a headscarf and manteau (long coat) are a legal requirement in women’s clothing. The women of Iran, however, challenge this by wearing these items in colorful, fashionable prints as opposed to the regulated solid black, and matching them with their shoes. The manteau has even been altered from season to season, in color and length, to make it more fashion-friendly. Women are also taking it upon themselves to make their manteaus more fitted.

Maintaining a Middle Eastern Identity

In the country of Saudi Arabia, the government has never banned western fashion, but the country’ citizens do not find themselves automatically drawn to western goods. A doll, the Fulla, which bears a Muslim, Middle Eastern look, has displaced Barbie as a top seller in Middle Eastern markets. And even Elle magazine has launched a Middle Eastern version, featuring a mix of Eastern and Western fashions, and slightly more conservative than its western counterpart. The magazine is carried in Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan,

Syria, Egypt, Dubai, and Kuwait

Though fashions can, and do, vary drastically all over the world, globalization is reducing those differences. And even with government restrictions in some parts of the world, fashion savvy women are using their good taste to make a political statement, sometimes for and sometimes against their state.

Expressing Your Social and Political Stance with Halloween Costumes

2011-09-02 - 22:50 | Protest | No comments

If you have strong political and social views, you’re certainly entitled to express them. One of the ways you can do that is through your choice in Halloween costumes. You may want to dress up like President Obama, or you may be more interested in Romney, Palin, or someone else. There will always be options for political figures around Halloween, because many people have strong viewpoints that they want to express. Social views can often be expressed in the same way, but you may want to consider how far you wish to push your views if they might offend other people.

Making a Social Statement

It can be tough to make a bold social statement sometimes, but with a Halloween costume you have more of an opportunity to do so. You can also disguise yourself through the wearing of a mask, so that you can express your views without getting yourself in a lot of trouble. If you do this, ask yourself whether you’d face serious consequences if your identity was revealed. If so, you may want to reconsider your costume.

Advertising Your Political Party

The same kind of caution should be used when it comes to political leanings. If your boss is a staunch republican, you may not want to show up at your office party dressed as Obama or another high-powered democrat. Expressing your views is important, but not at the expense of your job. You can’t get fired for not being republican, but your boss will see you differently – and that can affect your treatment and changes for promotion.

When choosing a Halloween costume you have to decide between what you feel is right and what others can accept. If you do that, you’ll be more likely to have a great time with your friends and colleagues, and no one will be upset at your choice of expression.

Infant Halloween costumes are one of the few age groups that are getting more attention recently.

A Matter of Perspective: Famous Voices on the Subject of Chaos

2011-08-27 - 22:52 | Protest | No comments

‘And so we will have to do more than register and more than vote; we shall have to create leaders who embody virtues we can respect, who have moral and ethical principles we can applaud with enthusiasm.’ How ironic that Famous Martin Luther King Jr. Quotes should be quoted as having said exactly that in Where Do We Go From Here; Community or Chaos(?) when we will soon be facing the choice of whether or not to re-elect a black president.

Chaos is an Ugly Word

And it is an even uglier state of being. Turmoil, disarray, bedlam, a state of utter disorder and confusion; a total lack of order and organization. This is chaos. Is this America? Napoleon Bonaparte himself had a view of chaos appropriately befitting an emperor: ‘The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemies’. Then again, he also said that ‘Glory is fleeting but obscurity is forever’. ‘Nuff said.

Chaos is My Friend

At least that’s what Bob Dylan thought when he said, ‘chaos is a friend of mine’. Bob Dylan had a number of things to say about chaos in fact. He admitted ‘I accept chaos, I’m not sure whether it accepts me’. And an interesting quote concerning Americans and what we seek and stand for… ‘we adore chaos because we love to produce order’. Sadly I must agree. How many times has America, as a whole, joined in somewhere where they weren’t invited to try to gain or restore order. Apparently it’s just what we do.

So apparently it’s all in the way you look at it, as with almost anything in this world. Where would we be without it; for according to Frederick Nitschke, ‘out of chaos… Comes order’.

How do Cell Phones and Social Networks Help Protesters Organize?

2011-08-26 - 23:17 | Political Unrest, Protest | No comments

2011 has been a very tumultuous year around the world as almost every country on earth has struggled with the economic recession. As unemployment remains high around the world more political groups are forming to protest their government’s lack of progress or inaction with solving fiscal and social problems.

Protests are an effective means of drawing attention to problems because, if they are organized correctly, they typically draw media attention and enable protest groups to have their causes reach television, the radio and the internet.

Social Media

Protests in this day and age have advanced far beyond what people in the 1960’s thought was possible. With free social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Google+, protest groups are able to easily connect large groups of people, send instant updates, share pictures and so much more in an easy to use format that enables protests do be organized quickly.

Many protest groups are able to efficiently recruit more supporters with free video websites like YouTube since the average person under the age of forty is more conditioned to respond to video better than anything else.

Cell Phones

One of the invaluable assets that modern day protestors enjoy is cell phones. The average cell phone is much more than a device that enables people to make phone calls on the go. Cell phones today are full multi media centers that enable users to take video, pictures and connect to the internet.

Cell phones play a huge part in the tools of a modern day protestor’s arsenal because thanks to text messaging which helps them to stay one step ahead of the police and schedule or cancel their protests at a moment’s notice.

What the Future Holds for Protestors

As technology gets more advanced and average people are able to stay connected almost everywhere they go the development of modern day protests will become even advanced, well developed and continue changing the modern political system in more ways than one. However, being able to find someone and their cell phone number increases. A possible answer to such a problem is payg cellphones.

Chaos Created by Western Influence

2011-08-20 - 17:32 | Corporate Protest | No comments

Over the last twenty years more and more companies have left the United States due things like high taxes, unions and higher employee wages in favor of third world countries like Mexico , Malaysia and China that offer a large body of workers that are willing to work for far less than what the average American earns per day.

This development has been both good and bad for the global economy. It’s been good because more affordable goods are available on the market today and it’s been bad because manufacturing jobs that were once the bedrock of the American workforce are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Western Companies Creating Chaos Abroad

Another negative development of the global economy is the increase in “sweat shops” around the world. A sweatshop is a factory where workers are paid next to nothing and work very long hours, often in very unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

One of the major companies that are often hit with sweatshop accusations is Wal-Mart. This company has benefited from the global economy by creating factories in countries like China and having their cheap goods exported to the United States. Even though Wal-Mart denies the sweatshop accusations they have hired a score of Public Relations companies and lawyers who are always quick to defend them when new accusations arise.

Illegal Dumping By Western Corporations

Many western companies are guilty of polluting the environment not just in the United States but also in foreign countries like Somalia and China where over the last two years many manufacturing and production companies have been found guilty of illegal dumping in the oceans and lands of those countries.

Thanks to the outcry and protests of citizens in third world countries, many nations are strengthening their pollution laws and making it more difficult for western companies to have a carte blanche of freedoms in their countries without being held accountable for the problems that they created.

When buying clothing kids, men or women, look into the manufacture and see how they treat the environment and their employees before buying.

Organizing Protests Using Content Management And Cloud Resources

2011-08-18 - 19:41 | Protest | No comments

In 2011 the power of cloud enterprise content management systems has been in the news frequently thanks to the wide variety of protests that have taken place all over Europe.

Web based CM solutions enable groups to easily plan protests by scheduling, planning and sharing data in one central format compared to years past when data like locations, schedules and date changes had to be managed by a “daisy chain” of phone calls and faxes.

What’s also great about cloud CM solutions is that they also offer many of the same benefits as social media and enable users to IM each other, post messages on each users wall and share pictures just like they would with other social media websites like Facebook or Twitter.

One Step Ahead Of The Game

With the recent major protests in Europe many news commentators have been astonished at how quickly protestors have appeared, almost out of nowhere, to conduct their protests and get their message out. The speed and quickness that many protest groups have been able to schedule their protests is all thanks to web based CM solutions like SpringCM that have given any group the ability to make changes to their plans at a moment’s notice and essentially stay one step ahead of the media, police and government.

Cost Associated With Web Based CM

Web based CM solutions are both easy to use and very affordable. A typical web based CM company charges per user and in many cases no long term contracts are required to get started, All you need is a valid credit card and you can get started with a web based CM today.

Unlike other enterprise content management programs that you need to install and manage on a server, web based CM solutions are very simple to learn and function with a point and click style. Anyone who uses popular email programs like Yahoo mail or Gmail will have no problem using any of the web based CM solutions that are on the market today.

Can the Use of Pepper Spray by the Police Pose a Risk to your Health?

2011-08-17 - 00:44 | Protest | No comments

Thanks to popular television shows like Dog the Bounty Hunter more people are aware of the use of pepper spray in law enforcement as a means of suppressing suspects instead of using more dangerous weapons.

Pepper spray is made from an oily extract found in pepper plants that are grown in countries like Mexico and then exported to the United States. The most potent element of pepper spray is capsaicinoid which creates the hotness that many people feel when they are sprayed with pepper spray.

Pepper Spray Health Effects

Short term exposure to pepper spray can cause intense burning, redness, swelling and pain around the area of the body that was sprayed.

Use of pepper spray can stimulate the heat receptors in a body which will also cause an individual to sweat profusely. Pepper spray can also cause a chemical reaction in an individual’s body that will cause them to cool too quickly and fall into hypothermia if cold water is used to decontaminate that person after pepper spray is used.

When Pepper Spray is Potentially Lethal

Using pepper spray can prove to be potentially lethal if it’s sprayed on an individual who already has a previous breathing condition like asthma. Many reports have shown that pepper spray can cause asthmatics to break out into respiratory arrest and CPR must be administered immediately.

In cases where use of pepper spray has resulted in fatalities it was learned that the fatality wasn’t a side effect of the pepper spray but a result of drugs that were taken before the individual was sprayed or hog tying that was used to suppress the suspect.

How to Decontaminate Yourself from Pepper Spray

If you find yourself contaminated by pepper spray the best thing to do is wash your skin with soap and water then was your clothes in a separate load from your normal laundry.

do you think excessive force was used on you, call a Indianapolis personal injury attorney today.
